Both of these fantastic SUVs come with solid engine options, tons of advanced technology, and some of the best interior materials on the market. There is a lot to love about both of these SUVs, but only one can be crowned as the best luxury SUV! Below, we have compared the Mercedes-Benz GLC and the BMW X3’s engine options and features. Continue reading to see which one comes out on top.
2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC Power & Handling
There are three engine options available for the Mercedes-Benz GLC, and each one delivers on power. Things start nicely with a turbocharged four-cylinder that pumps out 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque which pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Higher-level trims either come with a turbocharged V6 engine with 385 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque with all-wheel-drive or a turbocharged V8 with 469 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque with enhanced four-wheel-drive. Both of these engines also pair with the smooth-sailing nine-speed automatic transmission. You will never be short on power with the GLC!
2021 BMW X3 Power & Handling
The BMW X3 has two engine options, and while they both provide a decent amount of power, they do pale when compared with the GLC. The first two trims come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that delivers 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, while the highest trim gets a 3.0-liter six-cylinder with 382 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. The turbocharged four-cylinder comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel-drive, while the six-cylinder has the same transmission but comes with all-wheel-drive. These are some exciting power numbers, but we like what the GLC offers a bit more!
2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC Features & Design
There are four trim levels available for the Mercedes-Benz GLC, and each one comes with an abundance of luxury and tech features. The base trim is the GLC 300, which comes with LED headlights, a power liftgate, 18-inch wheels, remote start/keyless entry, and power-folding side mirrors. You also get some classy interior materials such as simulated leather upholstery, power-adjustable heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a household-power outlet. Tech features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and several safety systems as blind-spot monitoring, forward collision mitigation, and an automated parking system. Higher trims offer a sport exhaust system, a full digital gauge cluster, a sport-tuned air suspension, and a 13-speaker premium Burmester sound system. The GLC also provides you with a ton of opinions, including a wireless charging pad, a head-up display, tri-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera system.
2021 BMW X3 Features & Design
There are a few luxury items are available for the X3 through its four trim levels. The first few trims come with power-folding heated mirrors, auto-dimming mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, and a power liftgate. Inside, you will find tri-zone automatic climate control, simulated leather upholstery, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and a 12-speaker audio system. Some advanced safety systems are available, including a blind-spot monitor, lane departure warning, and frontal collision mitigation. The higher trims add to this unique interior and exterior styling elements, adaptive headlights, a sport suspension, upgraded brakes, keyless entry, Android Auto, and a panoramic sunroof. Options for the X3 include adaptive cruise control, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, a wireless charging pad, and a head-up display.
There is a lot to love about both of these premium SUVs, but we will give the victory to the Mercedes-Benz GLC!
